If you are in the UK, you may have seen the documentary aired on Channel 5 last week; "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" by Australian Joe Cross. It's the first time I'd seen this documentary and I was eager to watch as I'd already heard great things about it. Needless to say, it was extremely inspiring, so much so, I've heard that juicers are currently a scarce commodity around the UK, having gone out of stock in many retail outlets. It's wonderful to know that more and more people are joining the Juice revolution!
My juicing hero and guru is the UK's juicing expert Jason Vale, of Juice Master. Jason has been juicing for nearly 15 years, ridding himself of many ailments including asthma and severe psoriasis simply by looking to Mother Nature, drinking freshly extracted vegetable and fruit juices and cutting out the junk.
Although I'm lucky enough not to have any serious health concerns or ailments, I did have a couple of stone (14lbs) I could do with losing so I bit the bullet and joined in with Juice Master's "Big Juice Spring Clean" in 2012, following a programme consuming nothing but nutrient rich juices for 7 days.
After moving out of my parent's house, having grown up eating well balanced, home cooked meals, my diet had now consisted very much of processed and junk foods. And vegetables?! Pah, I had no time for them! And not forgetting my insatiable sweet tooth...
Joining the many thousands of people taking part in the 7 day programme was the best thing I could have done for my overall health. I was enlightened and it was truly the catalyst for living a much healthier lifestyle.
I've now embarked on the 7 day programme several times to give my body a boost but I've never lived purely on juice for longer than this; however Jason is currently filming a documentary at his juicy retreat in Portugal where he and his fellow juicers are continuing the programme for a total of 28 days. The documentary is to prove his "one disease one solution" hypothesis and I just know it's going to be remarkable viewing.
Jason has invited us to all join in with "The Big Summer Juice Detox" and keep him up to date with our experience over the month and I figured if I was ever going to give it a go, it would be now. Not only because Jason is doing it himself and the daily coaching videos are so motivational, but with the current glorious heat wave and one's appetite generally being a little suppressed due to the heat, what could be better than drinking delicious, cold juices full of nature's goodness when the temperature is climbing way up into the 30's.
So here I am, currently typing while sipping a tasty green juice comprising of apple, celery, kale, spinach, cucumber and beetroot, to name just a few ingredients, feeling like I am doing my body the biggest favour ever.
Jason is on a mission to juice the world and boy, is he succeeding! Joining him on the Big Summer Juice Detox are nearly 30.000 people from over 60 countries, wowzers! His bubbly personality and positive go-getting attitude is truly infectious. All his books are easy to read, his way of writing being down to earth with a great sense of humour. I defy anyone not to be inspired.
If you feel you need to shed some weight, generally clean up your diet or to help your body fight against an ailment or illness, I strongly urge you to read Jason's book 7lbs in 7days. I actually recommend you read ALL his books but if you're new to juicing, 7lbs in 7days is the perfect place to start.
If you are willing, it will change your life!
Have a juicy weekend!
