Did you see my Designer In Crisis post last month? It was an outpouring of the pressure I was putting on myself which eventually led to a complete loss of creative mojo and absolute lack of motivation...
I went about setting some intentions, one of which was to get involved with daily doodling challenges over on Instagram to help me fall back in love with drawing again, and I have to say, it's working a treat!! Not only has it helped me get out of my creative funk, but a byproduct of being a little bit creative every day has meant - get this - I've actually designed some new card collections for Christmas! (- which I was absolutely dreading by the way).
I'm enjoying playing around with my pens, pencils and paints with absolutely no pressure of any of it being any good. No pressure to make every piece of art I create have any commercial value whatsoever. Simply to draw for the sake of drawing.
I thought I'd share a little round up of my favourite doodles and hand lettering so far :)
I especially love the DNDChallenge October prompts - the wonderful array of autumnal colours really lend themselves well to watercolour. I'm a complete newbie to this medium and hadn't picked up a brush in over a year, so I'm having a blast practising my technique.
Anyway, if you fancy taking part in a doodle challenge I highly recommend it. The DND challenge is the one I am following more strictly. I like that it's a mixture of doodles and handlettering (they also have a FB group if you're not on Instagram), but I'm also having a go at 365DoodlesWithJohannaFritz if there's a prompt that I fancy.
Hooray for a renewed sense of fun and creativity!
